8th Annual Philanthropic Foodies Culinary Showcase on July 28 to Feature 23 Local Chefs and Benefit Two Local Nonprofits

The eighth annual Philanthropic Foodies culinary showcase, taking place on Sunday, July 28 at Marriott Syracuse Downtown from 4 to 8 p.m., will benefit Friends of Dorothy House and Joseph’s House.


SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The eighth annual Philanthropic Foodies culinary showcase, taking place on Sunday, July 28 at Marriott Syracuse Downtown from 4 to 8 p.m., will benefit Friends of Dorothy House and Joseph’s House. Philanthropic Foodies will consist of 18 tasting stations with food prepared on-site by Syracuse area chefs. This year’s chefs include:

  • Chef Matt Riddett, Empire Brewing Company

  • Chef Eva Zaczynski, Eva’s European Sweets

  • Chef Sarah Hassler, Hassler Hospitality Group

Tasting stations are paired with beverages provided by local businesses, including: 1911 Spirits, Anything But Beer, Buttonwood Grove Winery, Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, Empire Brewing Company, IBU Syracuse, Last Shot Distillery, Lock 1 Distilling Co., Middle Ages Brewing Company, Peaks Coffee Co., Treleaven Wines, Wagner Vineyards, Wagner Valley Brewing Co., and The York.

Philanthropic Foodies also features a live and silent auction, and live entertainment provided by award-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ashley Cox.

The organizations benefitting from Philanthropic Foodies serve a wide range of needs in the local community, including:

  • Friends of Dorothy House – offers home-based care to people with AIDS and terminal illness through recuperative or hospice care, supportive housing and emergency assistance.

  • Joseph’s House – provides a safe home and family environment for moms and babies who find themselves homeless due to a wide variety of circumstances.
     

Over the past seven years, Philanthropic Foodies has raised more than $320,000 for a variety of local nonprofits.

The Philanthropic Foodies VIP experience is also available, which includes reserved seating, a dedicated server to assist with station samples, and a beverage package.
